Karary University

Introduction

The University is an entity character of scientific research, teaching and training in the fields of military, professional, humanitarian, technical and any other related sciences. It endeavors to collect, teach and develop its curricula. Within the framework of the general objectives of the State, Karary University operates through colleges, schools, institutes, centers and specialized units, Humanitarian and technical, and the university is working on developing human capabilities and nurturing them with science and continuous training to serve the country, protect it, secure it, develop its resources and promote it scientifically, intellectually, culturally and socially.

The postgraduate program at Karary Academy of Technology began as a postgraduate diploma in 2000th and the programs were developed and developed until the establishment of Karary University in its various Colleges. These programs were considered as the leading vocabularies in the excellence of the university. The Council of Karary University issued a decree establishing the College of Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research in June 2008th.

The College of Postgraduate Studies and Research aims to achieve the following objectives:

1. Conduct scientific and applied research in relevant sciences to develop strategic capabilities and develop national resources scientifically, intellectually, culturally and socially.

2. Planning and development of graduate programs at the level of post-graduate diploma, master's and doctorate.

3. Encouraging scientific and applied research aimed at solving the problems of society and spreading them and employing technology to serve development issues.

4. Coordination between related and interrelated research with a view to rationalizing the utilization of resources and enabling relevant stakeholders to benefit from them.

5. To strengthen links with universities and specialized research centers at the local, regional and international levels in order to share experiences and benefit from research results.

6. To provide and meet the needs of higher education plans and national development of trained and qualified frameworks.

7. Providing and meeting the needs of the plans and projects of the Armed Forces and the military industrialization.

Article (1): The name of the regulation and its commencement

1.1 This Regulation shall be called (Academic Regulations for Postgraduate Studies at the Karary University and shall be effective from the date of the signature of the director.

Cancelling and Excluding

1.2 The Academic Regulations for Postgraduate Studies of the Karary Academy of Technology shall be repealed, provided that all the measures taken in accordance therewith remain in force.

1.3 All programs approved by the College of Postgraduate Studies are considered an integral part of these Regulations.

Article (2) Interpretation

In this context, unless the context requires another meaning, the words therein shall have the meanings given to them in the law of the University of Kerry for the year 2008.

University: means Karary University

College: means the College of Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research

College concerned: means any university college offering Postgraduate programs.

Program: means the Postgraduate Studies Program in accordance with the provisions of these Regulations.

Student: means the student enrolled in a college

Thesis/ researches: means the research submitted to meet the conditions of granting the degree

Degree: means the academic qualification granted by the university and includes postgraduate diploma and master's as well as doctorate

Certified Hours: means one hour or two hours of follow-up or three hours of labs offered weekly over the course of a full semester.

Department: means any department affiliated to a college concerned.

Article (3) Degrees

3.1 The College shall grant the following degrees:

3.1.1 Postgraduate diploma as higher studies and Master of Science.

(1) By courses only.

(2) By courses and supplementary research

(3) By just a search.

3.1.3 Master of Technology in courses and supplementary Research.

3.1.4 Doctorate of Philosophy

(1) By both courses and research

(2) By research only

Article (4): Admission Requirements, Study System and Examinations

4-1 Postgraduate diploma

4.1.1 Admission Requirements

(1) Obtaining a bachelor's degree in specialization from Karary University or its equivalent.

(2) Full time for a full academic year.

(3) A written approval of full-time service from the employer if the student is an employee.

(4) The written approval from the civil national service department to whom it applies.

(5) Passing interviews

(6) Any other terms & conditions set by the college concerned and approved by the council of Postgraduate Studies.

4.1.2 Studying discipline system

(1) The study system depends on certified hours and the semester system.

(2) The study shall be on a maximum of (3) semesters for each semester (16) weeks.

(3) The study includes (24) certified hours minimum and (40) certified hours maximum.

(4) The duration of the study shall not be less than (9) months and not more than (15) months unless approved by the Postgraduate Studies Council

4.1.3 Examination and Evaluation system

(1) Semester examinations shall be held at the end of each semester and the examinations of the second round shall be held after the completion of the semester of the program.

(2) The degree of micro-success in the courses is (50%) and the distribution of grades for the course, as determined by the section between the final exam and the quarterly work and research.

(3) The student is not allowed to continue studying if he fails in more than (25%) of the total credit hours of the program.

(4) The student is forbidden to sit for any exam if his attendance rate is less than (75%) and is not allowed to sit for the second round examination only after addressing the reasons for prohibition.

(5) The student shall be considered a rapporteur in the course, which prevents him sitting for his examination and monitors his grades for the work of the year.

(6) A student who failed in more than 25% of the total certified hours of the program and no less than (50%) is allowed to sit for the second round alternative exam and only one time and to succeed in the alternative second round to obtain the degree.

(7) The general average must not be less than (50%). The grade of the second round courses does not change in the general rate of the student.

(8) The student shall be awarded an alternative exam in any course.

(9) The drop failed student will not allow sitting alternative exam and does not given the chance for a second term.

4-2: Masters by courses only or courses and supplementary research

4.2.1 Conditions and terms for admission

(1) Obtain a Bachelor of Honor in the second or higher degree or obtain a postgraduate diploma from Karary University or its equivalent.

(2) The Council of Postgraduate studies may accept students of bachelor's degree in specialization with a third degree for experience of not less than three years.

(3) Full time for a minimum of one year.

(4) Written approval of full-time from the employer if the student is an employee.

(5) The written approval of the civil national service department to those who apply to them.

(6) Passing examinations.

(7) Any other conditions established by the College concerned and approved by the Council of Postgraduate Studies.

4.2.2 Full-time study discipline system

(1) The system of study depends on the credit hours and the semester system and consists of at least two semesters of duration (16) weeks.

(2) The master's program is completed with a minimum of 30 credit hours, including supplementary research hours.

(3) The duration of the study shall not be less than (18) months and not more than (24) months except with the approval of the Council of Graduate Studies.

(4) The Council of Postgraduate Studies may approve the conversion of credit hours, after evaluation, of equivalent courses in similar programs studied by the student at another university, provided that his registration period at Karary University shall not be less than half of the minimum period prescribed and designated for the program.

4.2.3 Part-time study system

 (1) The system of study depends on the credit hours and semester system and consists of four semesters each (16) weeks.

 (2) The Master's program shall be completed with at least 30 credit hours, including the hours of supplementary research.

 (3) The duration of the study shall not be less than (24) months and not more than (36) months except with the approval of the Council of Postgraduate Studies.
(4) The Council of Postgraduate Studies may approve the conversion of credit hours, after evaluation, of equivalent courses in similar programs studied by the student at another university, provided that his registration period at Karary University shall not be less than half of the minimum period prescribed for the program.

4.2.4 Examinations and Evaluation System

(1) The examinations of the courses of each semester shall be held at the end of the semester.
(2) The degree of micro success in the courses (50%) and the distribution of grades for the course as determined by the section between the final exam and the quarterly work and research.

 (3) The student is not allowed to continue studying if he fails more than (25%) of the total credit hours of the program.

 (4) It is prohibited for the student to sit for an exam any course if his attendance rate is less than (75%) and is not allowed to sit for the examination of the second round only after addressing the reasons for deprivation.

 (5) The student shall be considered failed in the course, which prevented him from sitting for his examination and monitors his grades for the work of the year.
(6) If the student succeeded in all the courses and did not get a rate (60%) awarded the degree of post-graduate diploma.

 (7) The student who failed in no more than (25%) of the total hours and did not have a general average of (60%) is entitled to sit for the second round exam in the courses in which he failed and move to the stage of the master thesis after success with courses and supplementary research

(8) The student who is not failed in more than (25%) of the total hours and does not have a general average of (50%) is entitled to sit for the exam of the second round of courses in which he failed.

(9) The general average of all courses must be at least (60%) to allow the student to move to the supplementary research stage.

(10) The student shall be awarded an alternative exam in any course.

(11) The drop in the alternative exam does not give the exam the chance of a second term.

(12) Success in the second round does not change the general rate of the student

4.2.5 Supplementary Research

(1) Submit the research proposal to the department concerned and the department to raise it with the name of the supervisor of the Council of Postgraduate Studies for approval.

(2) The study is conducted under the supervision of a senior supervisor approved by the college.

(3) The letter shall be presented in Arabic or English (and may in special cases be provided in another language). It shall include a real addition to knowledge in the mentioned field and shall show independence in analysis, development, and contribution to science and publication.

(4) A committee had to discuss the message shall be composed of at least three members: the supervisor and examiner from outside the university and shall be the chairman of the committee and an examiner from within the university nominated by the department and approved by the Dean of the College.

 

(5) Each examiner reads the message and submits a detailed confidential report to the College containing the following:

A) Recommending acceptance, postponement or rejection of the letter;

B) The basis of the recommendation mentioned in (a) above and include the following:

1. Review references and sources.

2. Means used in research.

3. Results.

4. Discuss the results and prospects for their application.

5. Research abstract

6. The possibility of the research to be published.

7. Any other observations.

(6) The discussion committee shall be held only after the reports of all the examiners are delivered to the college registrar. These reports shall be presented at the meeting of the discussion committee.

(7) After discussion and evaluation, the discussion committee submits a report signed by all its members, including one of the following recommendations:

a. Accept the research as it is (success).

b. Accept the letter after making some minor adjustments to the discussion committee without discussing it again.

c. Postponement of the sentence until the completion of some of the shortcomings and discussed again in a period not exceeding (6) months (one chance) and that the student pay 10% of the studying fees.

d. Reject the research (postponed).

e. In case of rejection of the research/project, the student is awarded a postgraduate diploma in his field of specialization

4-3 Master by research or project

Admission / submission Requirements:

1. Admission /submission shall be in accordance with the terms and conditions mentioned in the master's program in courses and supplementary research.

2. Registration shall be completed on a full-time basis

4.3.1 Studying system

(1) The student enrolled in the master's degree must continue to researching for a period not less than (24) months for full time and (36) months for part-time.

(2) The study shall be conducted under the supervision of a senior supervisor approved by the college and an associate supervisor may be appointed.

(3) The student shall not be allowed to continue to register after 30 months for full time except with the approval of the Postgraduate Studies Council after the recommendations of the supervisor and the concerned department.

(4) The principal supervisor must submit a semi-annual report on the student's progress and progress in his research for the college.

(5) Any student whose performance is unsatisfactory after his warning in writing may be dismissed.

5) The student is allowed to fulfilled part of the study period at a university inside or outside Sudan for laboratory experiments for a period not exceeding (6) months.

(6) The Council of Postgraduate Studies and exceptional cases may recommend to the Council of Professors to upgrade the registration of the student to the doctoral degree after the recommendation of the college concerned on the basis of scientific opinion of a specialized committee presented to the performance of the student in the project.

(7) The master student must submit a scientific paper arbitrated.

4.3.2 The research

(1) The title of the research / project is considered approved after being agreed by Evaluation Committee of the research proposal

(2) Other requirements for the Supplementary Master of Science research applicable for other research / project conditions

4.3.3 Discussion system for the research / project

The Master Research / Project Examinations system applies with courses and supplementary research.

4.4 Master of Technology by courses only or by courses and supplementary research

4.4.1 Admission Requirements

(1) Obtain a Bachelor of Science (Honors) or Bachelor of Technology in engineering second or higher degree or obtain a postgraduate diploma or to be equivalent from Karary University. The Graduate Studies Council may accept students from the bachelor's degree in engineering with a grade of three with an experience of not less than three years.

(2) Full time for a minimum of one year.

(3) Written approval of full-time from the employer if the student is an employee.

(4) The written approval of the Civil National Service Department to whom it applies.

(5) Passing examinations.

(6) Any other conditions established by the College concerned and approved by the Council of Postgraduate Studies.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

4.4.2 Full-time study system

(1) The study system depends on the credit certified hours and the semester system and consists of three chapters. The duration of each semester (16) weeks.

(2) A master's degree program is completed with minimum of (30) including certified hours hours of supplementary research.

(3) The duration of the study shall not be less than (18) months and not more than (24) months except with the approval from the Council of Postgraduate Studies.

4.4.3 Part-time studying Program

(1) The study system depends on credit hours and the semester system and consists of five semesters for each semester (16) weeks.

(2) A master's degree program is completed with minimum of (30) credit hours, including supplementary research hours.

(3) The duration of the study shall not be less than (24) months and not more than (36) months, except with the written approval of the Council of Postgraduate Studies.

4.4.4 Examinations and Evaluation System

(1) The examinations of the courses of each semester shall be held at the end of the semester.

(2) The minimum success scores for each course (50%) and the distribution of grades for the course as determined by the department between the final exam and the quarterly work and research.

(3) The student is not allowed to continue studying if he failed more than (25%) of the total certified hours of the studying program.

(4) The student is forbidden to sit for any exam if his attendance rate is less than (75%) and is not allowed to sit for the second round examination only after addressing the reasons for deprivation.

(5) The student shall be considered as failure in the course that prevents him from sitting for his examination and monitors his grades for the work of the year.

(6) If the student succeeded in all the courses and did not get a rate of (60%), he entitled to award the degree of postgraduate diploma.

(7) The student who failed in not less than (25%) of the total hours and did not have a general average of (60%) , is entitled to sit for a second round exam in the courses in which he failed and move to the stage of the master thesis after success with courses and supplementary research.

(8) The student who failed in more than 25% of the total credit hours of the program and does not say the general average of (50%) is entitled to sit for the exam the second round of courses in which he failed and after succeeding, he gets the post-graduate diploma.

(9) The general average of all courses should not be less than (60%) for the Master of Technology.

(10) The student shall be awarded a degree scores in any alternative exam

(11) The failure in the alternative exam does not give the student the chance of a second term.

(12) Success in the second round does not change the general rate of the student.

4.4.5 Supplementary Research

The supplementary research of the Master of Technology applicable to all the requirements for the supplementary thesis of the Master of Science

4-5 PhD with courses and research

4.5.1 Admission Requirements

(1) Obtain a master's degree at Karary University or its equivalent in the specialization that the student wishes to register as determined by the College of Postgraduate Studies.

(2) Full-time.

(3) Written approval of full-time service from the employer if the student is an employee.

(4) The written approval of the Civil National Service Department to whom it applies.

(5) Passing examinations.

(6) Any other conditions established by the College concerned and approved by the Council of Postgraduate Studies.

4.5.2 Studying system

(1) The study system of the doctorate (PhD) depends on the credit hours and the semester system. It consists of two semesters for the full term of each semester (16) weeks.

(2) The doctoral program shall be completed with a minimum of 48 credit hours, including the hours of supplementary research.

(3) The duration of the study shall not be less than (24) months and not more than (48) months for full time except with the approval of the Postgraduate Studies Council after the recommendation of the supervisor and the department concerned.

(4) The student is allowed to complete part of the study period at a university inside or outside the Sudan for laboratory experiments for a period not exceeding (12) months.

(5) The Council of Graduate Studies may approve the conversion of credit hours, after evaluation, of equivalent courses in similar programs studied by the student at another university, provided that his registration period at Karary University ,and  shall not be less than half of the minimum duration of the program.

(6) The Council of Postgraduate Studies may recommend the amendment of the registration of the student from the doctorate to the master's degree on the recommendations of the supervisor and the concerned college.

4.5.3 Examination and evaluation system

(1) Examinations are conducted for each semester at the end of the semester and the second round exam is conducted at the end of the semester.

(2) The grades for the course shall be distributed as determined by the department between the final exam and the quarterly work.

(3) The minimum success score for each course is 60%.

(4) The student is prohibited to sit for any exam if his attendance rate is less than (75%) and is not allowed to sit for the second round examination only after addressing the reasons for prohibition.

5) The student is not allowed to continue studying if he fails more than (25%) of the total credit hours of the program.

(6) A student who does not exceed (25%) in the classroom and did not say his general average of (70%) is entitled to sit for the exam the second round and after success sit for the comprehensive examination.

(7) The student shall be awarded the scores of an alternative exam to any course.

(8) The failed student in the alternative exam shall not give him the opportunity exam of a second term.

(9) Success in the second round does not change an overall rate.

4-5-4 Comprehensive Exam

(1) A PhD student must sit for a comprehensive examination after completing all courses and succeeding in them.

(2) The comprehensive examination includes a written examination (70%) and oral exam (30%) in the field of specialization and the degree of success (60%).

(3) The student who passes the comprehensive examination is transferred to the supplementary research stage.

(4) The student who fails the comprehensive exam will sit for the exam again after a full semester (4 months). If successful, the exam will be transferred to the supplementary research stage.

(5) The results of the comprehensive examination shall not be counted in the final assessment of the student's rate.

4-5-5 Doctoral research

(1) The research shall be conducted under the supervision of supervisors accredited by the rank of Associate Professor at least to the Principal Supervisor.

(2) The requirements of the supplementary Master's Thesis shall apply to the PhD research or project

(3) The appeal letter should contain the student's personal views about the research and the extent to which he is convinced of his contribution to the scientific progress in the field concerned. The thesis may contain work done with the help of the supervisor, indicating the contribution of the personal student.

(4) The doctoral student must submit two arbitrated scientific papers

4-6 Doctoral by Research Only:

4.6.1 Admission System

Apply all PhD / doctorate requirements for courses and research

4.6.2 Studying system

(1) The registered PhD. student is required to continue the research for at least (24) months.

(2) The research shall be conducted under the supervision of supervisors accredited by the rank of associate professor at least to the principal supervisor.

(3) The duration of the study shall not be less than (24) months and not more than (42) months for full time without the approval of the Council of Postgraduate Studies after the recommendation of the supervisor and the department concerned.

(4) The principal supervisor shall submit a report on the progress of the student and his progress in his research every (6) months. Any student whose performance is not satisfactory may be dismissed after his written warring.

(6) The student is allowed to complete part of the study period at a university inside or outside Sudan for laboratory experiments for a period not exceeding (12) months.

(7) In exceptional cases, the Council of Postgraduate studies may agree to accept the registration of two students who have studied at other universities to complete the requirements of the doctoral degree by searching only if the registration period is not less than half the minimum period of full fees.

(8) The Council of Postgraduate Studies may recommend the amendment of the registration of the student from the doctorate to the master's degree on the recommendation of the supervisor and the college concerned.

(9) The doctoral student must submit two arbitrated scientific papers

(5) The title of the thesis shall be approved after the offer and its leave from the evaluation committee of the research proposal.

4.6.3 The Research

(1) Applying to the doctoral research / project by searching all the requirements for the doctoral thesis or researches by courses and supplementary research.

4.6.4 Examination System

(1) Applicable to the doctoral thesis examinations by examining all the requirements of the doctorate with courses and supplementary research.

Article (5) Procedures for admission and registration

5.1 Presentation and submission to the College

a. The dates of submission and registration of the various degrees are announced by courses or courses and supplementary research through available means.

b. Applicants must apply for the PhD and Master's degrees by research throughout the year

c. The application form is withdrawn from the registrar or the Karary University information network, subject to the instructions contained therein.

d. The forms shall be delivered after filling in clear writing with the required documents for the college registrar

e. The names of students nominated for admission are indicated by the telephone numbers registered on the form to complete registration procedures

 

 

5.2 Registration for the College

a. The college announces a specific period of registration for each program

b. The student is registered for admission after paying (40%) of the studying fees for the program plus the prescribed registration fees

c. No student is allowed to re-register for a degree if the student cannot succeed in it before any specialization

d. A student card will be awarded after completing the registration process and will be presented upon request and sit for the exam

e. Registration is not allowed for any student after three weeks from the beginning of the studying courses.

5.3 Suspension and resignation

a. The opportunity is reserved for each separate semester while retaining the outcome of the previous semester

b. The acceptance of the resignation from the program fulfilled with an acceptable excuse, and the student obliged to pay the program fees.

5.4 Cancellation of registration

5.4.1 Student registration shall be canceled for the following:

a. If exceeded the maximum duration of the program

b. If the student does not start his studies after three months from the date of registration

c. If the registration is incorrect

d. If the student violates the list of Postgraduate studies

e. The student may be re-enrolled according to (Article 5.4.1 (a), which provided that the period awarded shall not exceed six months for a doctoral student and three months for a master's degree

f. The student according to Article 5.4.1 (a) is required to pay 25% of the studying fees for the program in return for the period shown plus the registration fees as full

g. Regardless of the provisions of Article 5.4.1, the Council of Postgraduate Studies may retain the registration of the student if it deems it necessary

Article (6) General Provisions:

6.1 The Council of Postgraduate Studies may approve the suspension of the study for the student on his request

6.2 The student who obtained the freeze may not continue to study until the program is presented again.

6.3 The duration of the freeze shall not be counted or included within the total period of the program
